Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Crown Center and celebrate the beloved Wizard of Oz movie
The Wizard of Oz, one of the world’s most beloved movies, turns 75 this year and to celebrate Crown Center is bringing the magic of the big screen to Kansas City.
“75 Years of Oz, Oh My!” opened Feb. 1 and will remain on display until May 4 in the Crown Center Shops Showplace. There is no admission fee.
Families can tour the enchanting world of the Munchkins, meet up with Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion, sneak into the Wicked Witch’s castle and much more. The exhibit also features decades of movie memorabilia from local Oz enthusiast Jane Albright.
In addition to the exhibit, meet “Glinda the Good Witch” from noon to 4 p.m. on March 1 and 8. Visit with other Wizard of Oz costumed characters from noon to 4 p.m. on March 15, 22 and 29. All activities are complimentary.
“75 Years of Oz, Oh My!” is open to the public during Crown Center Shops regular hours: Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The exhibit is closed Easter Sunday, April 20.
