Talk about the ultimate date night: Valentine’s Day with Oscar.
That’s right! The coveted statuette that is awarded for outstanding film achievements is coming to Kansas City Feb. 14.
For the first time, the Oscar Roadtrip kicks off Feb. 4 in New York and over a course of three weeks will greet movie fans along the way, according to comingsoon.net. The statue makes its red-carpet Hollywood appearance in time for the 85th Academy Awards Feb. 24 at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center. Seth MacFarlane is this year’s host.
“We created the Oscar Roadtrip to bring the magic and fun of the Oscar ceremony to movie fans across the country,” said Josh Spector, managing director of digital media and marketing for the Academy, in an article on comingsoon.net. “The Oscar Roadtrip makes it possible to share the once-in-a-lifetime thrill that only comes from holding an Oscar statuette.”
